1. Effects on the body

Opinions vary widely on this subject: We have already mentioned that some types of cheese are considered beneficial for weight loss. Nutrition experts particularly recommend Brie, which is rich in vitamin B6 and vitamin B12 and also so creamy that it fills you up quickly, which means you eat less of it. On the other hand, a variety that is rich in proteins, which in turn promote fat burning, is cottage cheese. It also has extremely few calories, which is why it is the ideal fitness snack. As a rule, however, cheese, as a highly concentrated dairy product, contains a lot of fat, sugar in the form of lactose and almost no fiber. Studies show that, statistically speaking, vegans have the lowest body mass index, i.e. they are the leanest.

2. The cholesterol level rises

Especially people who are prone to the effects of cholesterol need to be careful when consuming cheese and other dairy products. The reason: When you eat it, the cholesterol level skyrockets and the cholesterol can build up in the arteries. If these become clogged, this in turn can lead to a circulatory disorder.

3. Muscle building is increased

Of course, cheese not only contains bad nutrients, but also a lot of protein. Regular "cheddar" cheese, for example, is a really good source of protein at 25 grams per 100 grams. Lean quark, which is also a form of cream cheese, contains 34 grams. Cheese's proteins help build muscle, but if it lacks protein - the building blocks of muscles - every strenuous workout is free. However, that does not mean that we inevitably have to use cheese as a source of protein, as there are numerous plant-based foods, such as legumes, beans, lentils, peas and peanuts, that are also perfect sources of protein.

4. You can get addicted

This thesis is somewhat worrying, however, because cheese is suspected of being addictive to more. Cheese - with its highly concentrated form of milk - contains opiate-like substances called casomorphins and are comparable to endorphins, which also put the body in a state similar to intoxication. Studies also show that milk releases dopamine in the brain, making it act like a drug. But don't worry: if you don't do it, we won't get any withdrawal symptoms.

5. Growth hormones

The milk protein contained in cheese also contains growth hormones, which are supposed to promote the development of cancer cells of all kinds - especially breast cancer and prostate cancer. Both the Harvard School of Public Health and the American Cancer Society therefore explicitly recommend a plant-based diet and a move away from dairy products. Conclusion: Incorporating cheese into your diet every now and then is largely harmless, however, the dairy product should not end up on the plate every day if possible.
