Federal Council elects Brigitta M. Gadient as the new President of Switzerland Tourism

Bern, November 29, 2019 - On November 27, 2019, the Federal Council elected Brigitta M. Gadient as the new President of Switzerland Tourism. She will take up office on January 1, 2020. The Vice-President and the members of the Executive Board of Switzerland Tourism elected by the Federal Council have also been appointed for the 2020-2023 term of office. At the request of the Board of Directors of Switzerland Tourism, Brigitta M. Gadient will succeed Jean-François Roth, who has chaired Switzerland Tourism since 2008 and is stepping down from office after twelve years.

Brigitta M. Gadient is a lawyer with her own office for legal, organizational and strategic advice in Chur and a member of various administrative and foundation boards. She has been President of the Graubünden University of Applied Sciences since 2017. From January 1995 to December 2011 she was a national councilor. She was also a member of the Advisory Commission of the Federal Council on International Cooperation. The 59-year-old has also been Vice President of the SRC since this year. With Brigitta M. Gadient, Switzerland Tourism has for the first time in its 100-year history a woman as President.

The Federal Council has re-elected Ms. Catherine Mühlemann, media entrepreneur and board member, from among the board of directors as Vice-President. The members of the Executive Board previously elected by the Federal Council, Jeannine Pilloud (Ascom), Anja Wyden Guelpa (civicLab), Markus Binkert (Swiss) and Stefan Roth (OYM AG), are also re-elected for the new term of office. Thomas Steiner (Bulliard Immobilier) is newly elected as a member of the Board of Directors of Switzerland Tourism.
