Have you ever had an inner revelation

Revelation 2: 2-16: 13
Luther Bible 1545

I know your works and your work and your patience and that you cannot bear the wicked; and you tried those who say that they are apostles and are not, and you have found them to be liars;

and tolerate and have patience, and for my name's sake you work and have not become tired.

But I have against you that you leave your first love.

Remember what you fell and repent and do the first works. But where not, I will soon come to you and push your candlestick away from its place where you do not repent.

But you have that, that you hate the works of the Nicolaitans, which I also hate.

Whoever has ears can hear what the Spirit says to the congregations: He who overcomes, I will give to eat of the wood of life that is in God's paradise.

And write to the angel of the church in Smyrna: this is what the first and the last who were dead and came alive say:

I know your works and your tribulation and your poverty (but you are rich) and the blasphemy of those who say they are Jews and are not, but are the school of Satan.

10 Do not be afraid of any that you will suffer! See, the devil is going to throw some of you into prison to be tempted, and you will have tribulation for ten days. Be of good cheer until death, so I will give you the crown of life.

11 Whoever has ears hear what the Spirit says to the congregations: He who overcomes should not suffer any harm from another death.

12 And write to the angel of the congregation at Pergamus: This says, he who has the sharp, two-edged sword:

13 I know what you do and where you live, since Satan's chair is; and you keep my name and have not denied my faith even in the days in which Antipas, my faithful witness, was killed with you, when Satan dwells.

14 But I have a little thing against you, that you have there who keep the teaching of Balaam, who taught Balak to set up an offense before the children of Israel, to eat sacrifices to idols and to indulge in fornication.

15 So you also have those who adhere to the teaching of the Nicolaitans: I hate that.

16 Repent; but if not, I will soon come to you and have something with them by the sword of my mouth.

17 Whoever has ears can hear what the Spirit says to the congregations: Whoever overcomes will give him something to eat of the hidden manna and will give him a white stone and a new name written on the stone, which nobody knows because he who receives it .

18 And write to the angel of the church in Thyatira: This is what the Son of God says, who has eyes like flames of fire, and his feet are like brass:

19 I know your works and your love and your service and your faith and your patience and that the longer you do the more.

20 But I have against you, that you let the woman Jezebel, who said that she was a prophetess, teach and seduce my servants to practice fornication and to eat offerings to idols.

21 And I have given her time that she should repent for her whoredom; and she does not repent.

22 Behold, I throw her into a bed, and those who have committed adultery with her are thrown into great tribulation, where they do not repent for their works,

23 and I will beat their children to death. And all the churches should know that it is I who inquire into the kidneys and hearts; and I will give to each of you according to your works.

24 But I say to you, the others who are in Thyatira, who do not have such teaching and who have not recognized the depths of Satan (as they say): I do not want to throw another burden on you:

25 but hold on to what you have until I come.

26 And whoever overcomes and keeps my works to the end, I will give him power over the heathen,

27 and he shall feed them with an iron rod, and as a potter's vessels he shall throw them in pieces.

28 as I received from my father; and I will give him the morning star.

29 Let those who have ears hear what the Spirit says to the congregations!

3 And write to the angel of the church in Sardis, He who has the seven spirits of God and the seven stars says: I know your works; for you have the name that you live and are dead.

Wake up and strengthen the other who wants to die; for I did not fully invent your works before God.

So now remember how you received and heard, and keep it and repent. If you do not watch, I will come over you like a thief and will not know what hour I will come over you.

But you have several names in Sardis who have not soiled their clothes; and they will walk with me in white clothes, for they are worth it.

Whoever overcomes shall be dressed in white clothes, and I will not erase his name from the book of life, and I will confess his name before my Father and his angels.

Let those who have ears hear what the Spirit says to the congregations!

And write to the angel of the church in Philadelphia: This is what the holy one, the true one, who has the key of David, which opens, and no one closes, who closes, and no one opens:

I know your works. See, I have given you an open door, and no one can shut it; for you have a little strength and have kept my word and have not denied my name.

Behold, I will give from the school of Satana, who say that they are Jews, and are not, but lie; see, I will make them come and fall at your feet and know that I have loved you.

10 Because you have kept the word of my patience, I also want to keep you from the hour of temptation, which will come all over the world, to try those who live there on earth.

11 See, I am coming soon; keep what you have so that no one takes your crown!

12 He who overcomes I will make a pillar in the temple of my God, and he shall no longer go out; and I will write on him the name of my God, and the name of the new Jerusalem, the city of my God, which comes down from heaven from my God, and my name, the new.

13 Whoever has ears hear what the Spirit says to the congregations!

14 And write to the angel of the church in Laodicea: That says, the Amen is called, the faithful and true witness, the beginning of God's creature:

15 I know your works that you are neither cold nor warm. Oh, that you were cold or warm!

16 But because you are lukewarm and neither cold nor warm, I will spit you out of my mouth.

17 You say: I am rich and have had enough and need nothing! and do not know that you are miserable and miserable, poor, blind and bare.

18 I advise you to buy from me gold that is purged with fire so that you may become rich, and white clothes that you dress yourself and the shame of your nakedness may not be revealed; and anoint your eyes with eye ointment that you may see.

19 What I love, I punish and chastise. So now be diligent and repent!

20 See, I stand at the door and knock. If anyone hears my voice and opens the door, I will come in and have the sacrament with him, and he with me.

21 I want to give whoever overcomes to sit with me on my chair, as I have overcome and sit down on his chair with my father.

22 Let those who have ears hear what the Spirit says to the congregations!

4 Then I looked, and, behold, a door was opened in heaven; and the first voice that I heard spoke to me like a trumpet, saying: Come here, I will show you what is to happen after this.

And immediately I was in the spirit. And, behold, a chair was set in heaven, and on the chair sat one;

and he who sat there looked like the stone jasper and sarder; and a rainbow was around the chair, like an emerald to look at.

And around the chair were twenty-four chairs, and on the chairs sat twenty-four elders, dressed in white robes and with gold crowns on their heads.

And lightning and thunder and voices came from the chair; and seven torches with fire burned before the throne, which are the seven spirits of God.

And in front of the chair was a sea of glass like the crystal, and in the middle of the chair and around the chair there were four animals, full of eyes in front and behind.

And the first beast was like a lion, and the other beast was like a calf, the third had a human face, and the fourth beast was like a flying eagle.

Each of the four beasts had six wings, and they were full of eyes outside and inside, and had no rest day or night, saying, Holy, holy, holy is the Lord God Almighty, who was, and who is, and who there comes!

And then the animals gave praise and honor and thanks to him who sat on the chair, who lives there forever and ever,

10 The twenty-four elders fell down before him who sat on the chair, and worshiped him who lives for ever and ever, and threw their crowns before the chair, saying:

11 Lord, you are worthy to receive praise and honor and strength; for you created all things, and by your will they have the essence and are created.

5 And in the right hand of him who sat in the chair I saw a book written inside and out, sealed with seven seals.

And I saw a strong angel who exclaimed with a great voice: Who is worthy to open the book and break its seals?

And no one in heaven, nor on earth, nor under earth could open the book and look inside.

And I wept very much that no one was found worthy to open the book and read, nor to look inside.

And one of the elders said to me: Don't cry! Behold, the lion of the clan of Judah, the root of David, has overcome to open the book and break its seven seals.

And I saw, and behold, in the middle between the chair and the four beasts and between the elders stood a lamb, as if it had been killed, with seven horns and seven eyes, these are the seven spirits of God, sent into all the earth.

And it came and took the book from the hand of the one sitting in the chair.

And when he took the book, the four beasts and the twenty-four elders fell down before the Lamb, each with harps and golden bowls full of incense, which are the prayers of the saints

and they sang a new song, saying, You are worthy to take the book, and to open its seals; for you were slain, and God redeemed us with your blood from every race and tongue and people and nations

10 and made us kings and priests to our God, and we shall be kings of the earth.

11 And I saw and heard the voice of many angels around the chair and around the animals and around the elders; and their number was many thousand times a thousand;

12 and they said with a great voice, The Lamb that is slain is worthy to receive strength and riches and wisdom and strength and honor and praise and praise.

13 And every creature that is in heaven, and on earth, and under the earth and in the sea, and all that is in them, I heard saying: To him who sits on the chair and to the Lamb be praise and honor and praise and power Eternity to Eternity!

14 And the four animals said: Amen! And the twenty-four elders fell down and worshiped him who lived for ever and ever.

6 And I saw that the Lamb opened one seal; and heard the four animals say something like a thunderous voice: Come!

And I saw, and behold, a white horse. And he who sat on it had a bow; and a crown was given to him, and he went out victorious, and that he conquered.

And as it opened the other seal, I heard the other animal say: Come!

And another horse went out, it was red. And it was given to him who sat on it to take peace from the earth, and that they should kill one another; and a great sword was given to him.

And as it opened the third seal, I heard the third beast say: Come! And I saw, and behold, a black horse. And whoever sat on it had a scale in his hand.

And I heard a voice among the four animals say: A measure of wheat for a penny and three measures of barley for a penny; and do no harm to the oil and wine!

And as it opened the fourth seal, I heard the voice of the fourth beast say: Come!

And I saw, and behold, a pale horse. And whoever sat on it, his name was Death, and Hell followed him. And power was given to them to kill the fourth part of the earth with the sword and with famine and with death and through the beasts of the earth.

And when it opened the fifth seal, I saw under the altar the souls of those who were slain for the word of God and for the testimony that they had.

10 And they cried out with a great voice, saying, Lord, holy and true, how long will you not judge and avenge our blood on those who dwell on the earth?

11 And they were given a white robe to each one, and it was said to them that they would rest a little while, until their fellow servants and brethren would come, who were also to be put to death like them.

12 And I saw that it opened the sixth seal, and, behold, there was a great earthquake, and the sun became black as a sack of hair, and the moon became like blood;

13 and the stars of heaven fell to the earth, as a fig tree sheds its figs when it is moved by a great wind.

14 And the sky escaped like a rolled up book; and all the mountains and islands were moved from their places.

15 And the kings of the earth, and the great, and the rich, and the centurions, and the mighty, and all the servants and all the free, hid themselves in the clefts and rocks of the mountains

16 And they said to the mountains and the rocks, Fall on us and hide us from the face of him who sits on the throne and from the wrath of the Lamb.

17 For the great day of his wrath has come, and who can stand?

7 And afterwards I saw four angels standing on the four corners of the earth, holding the four winds of the earth, so that no wind might blow over the earth, nor over the sea, nor over any tree.

And I saw another angel rising from the rising of the sun, who had the seal of the living God and cried with a great voice to the four angels, who were given to damage the earth and the sea;

And he said, Do not damage the earth, nor the sea, nor the trees, until we seal the servants of our God on their foreheads.

And I heard the number of those who were sealed: one hundred and forty-four thousand who were sealed of all the families of the children of Israel:

Sealed twelve thousand of the family of Judah; sealed twelve thousand of the Reuben family; sealed twelve thousand of the family of Gad;

sealed twelve thousand of the family of Asher; sealed twelve thousand by the family of Naphthali; sealed twelve thousand by the family of Manasseh;

sealed twelve thousand of the family of Simeon; sealed twelve thousand of the family of Levi; sealed twelve thousand of the family of Isachar;

sealed twelve thousand by the family of Zebulun; sealed twelve thousand of the family of Joseph; sealed twelve thousand by the family of Benjamin.

Then I saw, and behold, a great multitude, which no one could count, from all heathen and peoples and languages, standing before the chair and before the lamb, dressed with white clothes and palms in their hands.

10 cried out in a great voice, saying, Hail to him who sits on the chair, our God, and the Lamb!

11 And all the angels stood around the chair, and around the elders, and around the four animals, and fell on their faces in front of the chair, and worshiped God

12 They said, Amen, praise, and honor, and wisdom, and thanks, and praise, and power and strength, be to our God for ever and ever. Amen.

13 And one of the elders answered and said to me, Who are these dressed in white clothes, and where did they come from?

14 And I said to him, Lord, you know it. And he said to me, These are the ones who came out of great tribulation, and washed their clothes, and made their clothes light in the blood of the Lamb.

15 That is why they are before the throne of God and serve him day and night in his temple; and he who sits on the chair will dwell over them.

16 She will no longer starve nor thirst; nor will the sun or any heat fall on them;

17 for the lamb in the midst of the throne will feed them and lead them to the living fountains of water, and God will wipe away all the tears from their eyes.

8 And when it opened the seventh seal, there was silence in heaven for half an hour.

And I saw the seven angels standing before God, and seven trumpets were given to them.

Another angel came and stood at the altar with a golden censer; and much incense was given to him, to be given for the prayer of all the saints on the golden altar before the throne.

And the smoke of the incense from the prayer of the saints went up from the hand of the angel before God.

And the angel took the censer and filled it with fire from the altar and poured it on the earth. And there came voices and thunder and lightning and earthquakes.

And the seven angels with the seven trumpets were ready to trumpet.

And the first angel sounded, and there was hail and fire mingled with blood, and it fell to the earth; and the third part of the trees was burned up, and all the green grass was burned up.

And the other angel trumpeted: and it went like a great mountain with fire burning into the sea; and the third part of the sea became blood,

and the third part of the living creatures in the sea died, and the third part of the ships were corrupted.

10 And the third angel trumpeted: and a great star fell from heaven, which burned like a torch and fell on the third part of the rivers and over the wells.

11 And the name of the star is called wormwood. And the third part of the waters became wormwood; and many people died from the waters because they had become so bitter.

12 And the fourth angel trumpeted: and the third part of the sun and the third part of the moon and the third part of the stars were struck, so that their third part was darkened, and the third part of the day did not shine, and likewise the night.

13 And I saw and heard an angel fly through the middle of heaven and say with a great voice: Woe, woe, woe to those who dwell on earth, in front of the other voices of the trumpet of the three angels, which are still to trumpet!

9 And the fifth angel sounded, and I saw a star that had fallen from heaven to earth; and the key to the well of the abyss was given to him.

And he opened the well of the abyss; And smoke came out of the well like smoke from a great furnace, and the sun and the air were darkened by the smoke of the well.

And locusts came out of the smoke to the earth; and power was given to them, as the scorpions have power on earth.

And they were told that they did not damage the grass on the earth, nor a green nor a tree, but only those people who do not have the seal of God on their foreheads.
