Is it normal to be a loner?
We all know a loner. You tend to spend as much time alone as possible. Of course they have friends. It's not that people don't like them. It is more the case with them that they don't like people or that they don't like being around people that much.
Often loners actually have no problems making friends, only they have a higher standard of friendship, in other words, they don't make friends with everyone. But they make the conscious decision to be alone, at least most of their free time.
Why? According to a psychologist, this is because they don't necessarily need other people's acceptance to be happy. They are not a “herd animal” in that sense.
Are you a loner? Here are 14 characteristics of people who like to be alone, maybe you feel addressed:
1. You value time.
If there's something very important to a loner, it's their time. They respect and value time more than anything. You are aware that time is the most valuable commodity for a successful life. They will do everything in their power not to be late. You don't want to waste anyone's time. They avoid letting others wait, and they do not tolerate someone letting them wait.
Through their self-esteem, they have developed a high level of self-esteem. Respect their time and they will respect you.
2. You know yourself.
Many people choose to ignore their own thoughts and feelings. Loners don't do this, they are very preoccupied with their own thoughts and feelings and with themselves. They are very clear about themselves. Your awareness is very pronounced and strong.
Loners know each other better than anyone and this enables them to better understand the people around them. Everyone has a depressive phase at times, but only the loner is able to navigate through it himself, because he knows himself and knows how he works.
3. You are level-headed.
Loners are amazingly strong-willed and can handle difficult situations in their lives quite well. They have a strong focus and solve their problems using their honest self-reflection and knowing that they have to go through it alone.
When exposed to stressful situations, they choose to spend some time on their own and organize themselves rather than get bogged down with distractions. As you spend time with yourself and your thoughts, you develop solutions to your problems and ways to deal with them.
4. You are open-minded.
Although they like to be alone, this doesn't make them rigid and narrow-minded. On the contrary, they are extremely open-minded and always open to new ideas and perspectives.
You don't plan to live in your room all your life. They enjoy exploring and experiencing new adventures. As long as they have enough time for themselves, they are very easy to get along with.
5. You are loyal.
Loners don't desperately long for the company of others. But that doesn't mean they don't have friends. Once they like someone, they are the most loyal friends on the planet.
You know your worth as a person. They exercise loyalty in all areas of their life. Relationships, work, family just about everything. You are always loyal.
6. You set clear boundaries.
Loners always draw clear and understandable boundaries. Your circle is small. You know exactly who belongs in this group and who doesn't.
When in doubt, they know that they will always have themselves. They want their boundaries to be respected.
They are aware of their weaknesses and strengths.
A loner knows exactly what his weaknesses and what his strengths are. But they also know that there is always room to improve. Regardless, be aware of their imperfections and admit their mistakes. Still, they hold their heads up because they are proud of who they are. They are happy with themselves, even if no one likes them, they know that they can be fine on their own.
7. You are very empathetic.
One of the most obvious signs that you are a loner is a tendency towards emotion and that you are an empath. You are able to feel and feel with others on the same level as them. It is a curse and a blessing when you are able to feel everyone else's sadness or despair.
Since you are so empathetic, it is also easy for you to see the beautiful side in everything in life. You see solutions everywhere while others only see problems.
8. You understand that nobody is perfect.
I already said that a loner knows his weaknesses but also his strengths, so they also know that nobody is perfect. We all have our flaws and opportunities for improvement, but the loner knows that going with the flow is not the solution. Just stay yourself without trying to be perfect.
9. You let your intuition guide you.
Your intuition is your constant companion and teacher who guides you through your life and leads you to the next chapter that leads you on your long journey to the self. There is a lot that could be said about a loner and his intuition, mainly about how a loner makes his decisions and that is almost always with the gut. He doesn't get scared easily because he knows that his intuition has never let him down. It was more likely when he didn't listen to his intuition that he was disappointed.
10. You are very independent.
A loner rarely feels he is dependent on someone. They prefer to be their own "boss", even when in a relationship they prefer to do things their own way. A loner will go to great lengths just to show everyone that they can do it on their own.
11. You are courteous and have a great deal of compassion.
You love to show others the importance of compassion and kindness so that they can understand that spreading love should be an important part of everyone's life. The loner likes to talk passionately about the things they love to do best as well as with the people they love most. This is one of the best traits of loners, but not many notice it, as they often move outside of society.
12. You are brave.
The loner is a person who exudes trust and this trust makes them a pleasant conversation partner. They have a certain aura that brings out the best in others, because you feel special around them, because you know they only deal with a few people.
13. You have a lot of self-love in you.
Even in the worst of times of your life, you can still find a way to love yourself no matter what is going on around you. Of course, you know there will be times when you don't know what to do. Still, you'll always love yourself enough to get out of there.
14. You are emotionally strong.
You are used to relying on yourself because you lead a life with few people in it. You fight and win your battles mostly without witnesses and without much drama. Seldom does anyone notice anything about your ups and downs. Your defeats and victories, nobody mourns you when you lose and nobody celebrates you when you win. You are just a loner and that makes you so incredibly strong. You can get my book here.
