Is someone else borrowing DVDs from libraries?
Questions that we are often asked
How do I register at the city library?
Quite unbureaucratic: from the age of 16 an identity card is sufficient, fill in the registration card and the library card is issued immediately. A parent with an ID card should be present when registering children. Please also note our 'Basic Law' - our usage and fee statutes. It is available at the reception desk.
Who can use the city library?
Everyone interested! Not only people from Neumarkt are allowed to visit and use the city library.
Where can you find the city library in Neumarkt?
The city library is located close to the city park, across from the castle pond,
next to the Lothar Fischer Museum in Weiherstrasse 7.
When is the library open?
What does the loan cost?
Lending books, magazines, all non-book media, eBooks and eAudio media ...
- everything is free of charge for everyone, regardless of whether they are children or adults.
What else do you have to consider when borrowing?
There is nothing without a library card - so you should always have it with you. The card is also non-transferable, which means that everyone in the family needs their own reading card.
You will receive a receipt with all the borrowed media and the return data printed out. Take good care of it! If the receipt is lost, please call us and ask about the return times. Or use 'Findus' - our internet catalog - there you can display your reader account and request extensions in good time ...
The return date is binding. There is only one grace day! After that it costs ...
How long can I keep media at home?
4 weeks: books, language courses, console games, CD & DVD-Roms, board games
2 weeks: magazines, CDs, DVDs, Blu-ray discs, Tonie figures and Tonie boxes
The latest magazine issues cannot be borrowed, which is why they do not have a barcode number. Everyone should have the opportunity to look at the latest issue.
How many media can you borrow?
You can borrow a maximum of 20 media. In the case of non-book media, you can choose for each media group [e.g. CDs, DVDs…] borrow 10 media. Exceptions are console games [NDS, Wii, PS3, PS4, Nintendo Switch], Blu-ray discs, parlor games and Tonie figures - here the loan is limited to 3 media / per ID. The city library does not yet have such a large inventory of these media. In the case of multi-part audio books or language courses, it can sometimes be more than 20 media.
What if you want to keep a little longer?
Yes, that is possible. You can come by in person, give us a call or extend your media online in the catalog. An extension only makes sense a few days before the loan period expires and is only possible if the medium [book, CD, DVD ...] has not already been pre-ordered by someone else. The media loan period can usually only be extended once! Please use this option if you cannot visit the city library in time for the submission deadline.
Forgot the deadline - what now?
This is fine, but you will have to pay for it. If the loan period is exceeded, we will charge you a late fee of EUR 0.50 per medium / week. On the 3rd day after the loan period has expired, we will send out reminder letters. We charge you an additional EUR 1.50 for each reminder.
Please save yourself the costs and save us the extra work and call us in good time. If you also have media that are already overdue extended, the fees will at least not increase any further.
Can you pre-order media?
Of course! We reserve the desired medium for you for EUR 0.50 per title. You will receive a notification once it's in the house and within a week you should be picking it up at the library.
Can I order media from other libraries?
