What is the scope of construction engineering

Structural engineering / mathematics as a lateral entry (teaching degree), M.Ed.

Every master’s degree at TU Berlin requires a first professional degree. The entry requirement for the Q-Master in Civil Engineering / Mathematics is a first professional qualification with at least 180 credit points (LP). At least 120 credit points must be assigned to the subject-specific content of the subject profile of the vocational field of construction engineering of the “common national content requirements for the subject-specific sciences and subject-specific didactics in teacher training” (resolution of the Conference of Ministers of Education and Cultural Affairs of October 16, 2008 in the currently valid version).

The required entry qualification for the Q-Master is knowledge of the specialist sciences of the second subject of mathematics. If you cannot demonstrate this knowledge at the start of your studies, you have the option of acquiring it during the master’s degree and providing evidence by the time you register for your master’s thesis. The knowledge to be proven must correspond to the scope of 20 CP. The competencies acquired are based on the learning outcomes and content as provided at the TU Berlin in the modules “Analysis I and Linear Algebra for Engineering” and “Analysis II for Engineering”.

At the beginning of the course, the responsible examination board decides, on the basis of proof of previous achievements in mathematics, whether this required entry qualification exists. If this is not the case, you will be informed of the scope of the work still to be achieved, which must then be proven in addition to the 120 LP master’s course.

The language of instruction for the Q-Master in Structural Engineering / Mathematics is German. If you apply with foreign educational certificates, you must prove that you have a certain level of German language skills.

In the Q master’s degree in civil engineering / mathematics, complex, interdisciplinary issues are dealt with. You should have an interest in and understanding of didactics, pedagogy and mathematics. In addition, independence and initiative are an advantage, as you work a lot independently.
