NGOs and politics - competition at eye level for the bourgeoisie

Despite the rejected initiative: The NGOs have shown themselves to be an important factor in politics. That doesn't suit everyone.

The broad coalition of non-governmental organizations has taught the economy fear. Political scientist and consultant Louis Perron also considers the campaign work for the corporate responsibility initiative to be remarkable.

Still, it's not a new phenomenon for him. “There are more and more changing coalitions. There are also new players who have developed considerable clout, ”he says.

Perron therefore sees voting Sunday as the culmination of these trends. A few years ago it was Operation Libero, for example, that introduced a new style.

Noser speaks of "danger"

Ruedi Noser, a member of the Zurich FDP, is now nervous. Since the vote on the hunting law, the professional campaign work of the non-governmental organizations has been a thorn in his side. «In Switzerland politics is a militia system. Now there are new professionals who earn money with it, ”he says.

It was a danger if eight million francs were used in the Hunting Act or now more than 15 million francs in the corporate responsibility initiative, said Noser.

Noser therefore wants to take a closer look at the cash flows. Noser demands with a motion that non-profit organizations are no longer tax-exempt if they are actively involved in politics.

"This discussion is wrong"

The committee of the Corporate Responsibility Initiative is frowning. After all, it's about human rights. Churches and NGOs would have to take responsibility for this, argues Alexandra Karle from the human rights organization Amnesty International.

For them, these institutions are non-profit anyway. "And that's why I think the discussion about the withdrawal of tax exemptions is wrong."

Bourgeoisie have recognized competition

Where the boundary between oneself would be expressed or actively contributed and how much tax money would be involved, it would not be possible to say.

One thing is clear, however: the bourgeois side, which narrowly won yesterday, understood that they were facing competition on an equal footing with the targeted non-governmental organizations.

Fortunately there are the NGOs, otherwise there would be even less with environmental, climate protection and human rights, whereby right-wing conservatives, who mainly "sanctify" monetary values and sometimes rather rich people, hardly help. The aim is to leave posterity a world that is as livable as possible.

Ruedi Noser, you made my day: «In Switzerland politics is a militia system. Now there are new professionals who earn money with it »It comes from the FDP of all people.

NGOs that actively politicize are to be taxed. The activities of certain NGOs are absolutely to be called into question. Saving refugees from drowning is honorable, but not working with Crimea. Smugglers! The no to the corporate responsibility initiative is to be accepted and trying to explain the result with allegedly scattered lies is absurd. Who ran advertising campaigns with fake photomontages?
