What is a pitch deck?

A. pitch deck is usually a 10-20 slide presentation that aims to give a brief summary of your company, your business plan and your startup vision. It also serves very different purposes, from trying to get a meeting with a new investor to presenting in front of a stage, and each of them should follow a different structure.

A Presentation for a demo day for example, should be very visual and contain very little text. She will be viewed from a distance and you will do the talking. A presentation on pitch that you want to send by e-mail, on the other hand, should be completely self-explanatory. It will be visible on a laptop monitor, so a small font isn't too bad.

In these cases it is also very useful to follow your investor's activity on the presentation to find out if he has actually read the slides 100%; this can be crucial in determining the frequency of follow-up emails. In our case, that was key to raising our final round of funding. A number of pitch deck platforms offer this as a function.

Also notice how simple the problem slide is in the presentation: 3 simple bullet points are enough to describe the problem.

Even though we redesigned the original elevator pitch, the simplicity and small number of elements in each slide had been carried over from the original deck. As we mentioned earlier, when it comes to presentations, less is more.

3- Facebook pitch deck template

It's pretty hard to imagine a world without Facebook today. But back in 2004, 21 year old Eduardo Saverin was just another entrepreneur trying to convince people to make money into a growing company called thefacebook.com that was co-founded by him and his friend Mark Zuckerberg.

The story of how they founded one of the most successful companies in history was portrayed dramatically in the 2010 film: The Social Network. Mark Zuckerberg himself has admitted that the film, like many other biopics, is imprecise in many respects. But he also admits that the film reproduces a lot of the details correctly.

One of them is that Eduardo actually went to New York in 2004 when thefacebook.com was launched to try and sell Facebook's initial idea of ads to potential customers.

Facebook's original pitch deck was basically a media kit that included the company's value proposition, key metrics, and the Online marketing services contained.

At the time, the company wasn't making money on The Facebook, so their presentation was not based on sales performance (in fact, they were still figuring out their overall business model). Instead, they bet on solid numbers like you User engagement, the customer base, and growth metrics.

8 - Recurring pitch deck template

The average small business has 42 SaaS tools and spends ~ $ 200K / year. The problem is that there is no centralized view of this stack. Founders are often confronted with verifying that a tool is actually being used by all of the places they are paying for.

When we tried to find a platform to organize this, we saw that many of them targeted companies with 100+ employees. These are not well-known brands; they are companies that mainly work in outbound sales.

But these small businesses, like us at Slidebean, have a problem. The average company under 100 employees has 3.6 duplicate apps, 2.6 orphaned subscriptions, and an average of 17 platforms per employee. And of course that continues to increase.

So how can we solve this problem for small businesses that have an absolute focus on optimizing spending. With Recurring, we can connect to their accounting software and their emails to collect invoices, we can measure user activity with SSO and their Gsuite logs - but most importantly, we can offer smart recommendations. This is the pitch deck:
