Accepting Walmart Vision Center Medicare Plans

Original Medicare does not provide any visual benefits for eye exams and glasses. However, many Medicare Advantage plans offer visual benefits in their plans. If you have a Medicare Advantage plan that gives you visual benefits, the Walmart Vision Center may accept the vision aids plan. Each plan has its own network of vision providers that you must go to in order to get the benefits. If you are on a Medicare Advantage plan, they should send you a book with the providers. You can also call the toll free customer service number on the back of your insurance card to find a network vision provider or visit their website online and search for doctors. The deciding factor will be whether or not the Walmart Vision Center is on the network for the Medicare Advantage plan you are a member of.

Walmart Vision Centers offer professional information medical eye and visual aid services. They also sell materials like lenses and frames.

Many Walmart Optometrists are Walmart employees and many rent their rooms. I don't think there is a single policy that prohibits doctors from applying for insurance. In recent years, more and more doctors at Walmart Vision Center have "accepted" Medicare plans in some form. It is important that you call each doctor's office to find out what the coverage level is acceptable.

Note: I practiced at a Walmart with National Vision for 16 months.
