Accordingly, electrical engineers earn the most in Bavaria, Baden-Württemberg and North Rhine-Westphalia. The automotive and mechanical engineering sectors are the top sectors for a high income.

As in most industries, the salary increases with length of service and many years of professional experience. Electrical engineers who want to climb the career ladder the classic way should, however, aim for a position with managerial responsibility. As a result, engineers in the electrical industry can earn an average of € 70,000 gross per year as project managers or team leaders. As a department head, salaries of up to € 91,000 and as a division manager even over € 110,000 per year are possible.

In addition to the opportunities for advancement through personal responsibility, the so-called “expert career” is becoming more and more common, especially in the electrical industry. The aim here is to enable well-trained electrical engineers to move up and earn a higher income without taking on personnel responsibility. The strength of electrical engineers who choose a career as an expert lies primarily in the technical field. Future prospects

Very good job opportunities are forecast for electrical engineers - regardless of the industry. At the moment, more electrical engineers are retiring than skilled workers are moving up.
