Financial support (care allowance)

People in need of care should be able to decide for themselves how and by whom they will be cared for. Combined performance

Can care allowance and outpatient care benefits in kind be claimed at the same time?

In order to guarantee optimal care tailored to individual needs, it is possible to combine the receipt of care allowance with the use of outpatient care benefits in kind. In this case, the care allowance is reduced proportionally in relation to the value of the outpatient benefits in kind used.

Individual caregivers

Individual caregivers are independent caregivers, such as geriatric nurses or geriatric care assistants.

People in need of care in care levels 2 to 5 have the option of using self-employed care workers. The care insurance funds should conclude contracts with suitable individual caregivers for the care of certain people in need of care, if the use of these forces is particularly effective and economical or if, for example, the special wishes of people in need of care can be taken into account with regard to the design of the help. In order to finance individual caregivers, those in need of care in care grades 2 to 5 can make use of outpatient care benefits in kind. The billing takes place directly between the authorized individual caregiver and the care fund.

Vacation and sickness replacement (preventive care)

The care fund pays the person in need of care in certain cases if the carer is temporarily unable to care for the relatives due to vacation or illness.
