How to cook canned black beans

Can you eat canned kidney beans?

Kidney beans are very popular, healthy and go well with many foods. The popular legumes originally come from Peru and became popular with Europeans during the colonial era. The nutritious legumes are available both dry and canned. While the dry legumes must be soaked in water overnight and then boiled until soft, the kidney beans in the can are already relatively soft and so the question arises as to whether legumes can be eaten straight from the can?

Do not eat kidney beans uncooked

Beans in general shouldn't be eaten raw, regardless of the type of bean. This is because beans contain a poisonous protein compound called phasin. Accordingly, fresh beans from the garden should be cooked for at least 10 minutes. The phasin contained is largely destroyed by the cooking process and the beans can be consumed without any problems. Nobody has to worry about kidney beans, because if you buy kidney beans as dry goods, you basically have to boil them until they are soft, since they are very hard without cooking, hardly anyone would eat the bean in this state.

The good magnesium supplier should be soaked in the dry state for 12 hours and then the kidney beans need a cooking time of 45 to 60 minutes until they have reached the optimal degree of softness. After the boiling process, the kidney beans can theoretically be boiled down so that preserves would be created and the fully cooked beans can be stored for a longer period of time. As a rule, however, kidney beans are mostly bought in canned goods in the German trade, as the beans can be processed quickly and easily.

Canned kidney beans already pre-cooked

Canned kidney beans are already cooked. Accordingly, kidney beans are often found in tins with different sauces. Accordingly, the beans no longer have to be boiled after opening the can, but are basically ready to eat. The canned kidney beans are usually used with chilli, bean soup or as a side dish and are therefore served warm, but they can also be eaten cold without any problems. Accordingly, they can not only be eaten straight from the can, but are also perfect for adding to a salad, and the canned beans can also be easily processed into a dip.

However, it is important to make sure that the beans from the can are used as soon as possible after opening the can. If the entire amount of kidney beans is not needed immediately, the rest should be stored in the refrigerator and, if possible, used up the next day.
