Here you will learn from an experienced housewife how to clean your sink. Regardless of whether you want to clean a stainless steel sink, ceramic sink or Silgranit sink.
Tips for cleaning a stainless steel, ceramic and Silgranit sink
When cleaning the sink, the material is very important. Most of the sinks are made of stainless steel. But there are also sinks made of artificial stone, plastic, ceramic and Silgranit. And all of them ask for a different treatment.
Clean the stainless steel sink
Stainless steel sinks are widespread and relatively easy to care for. To clean them, warm water and a splash of washing-up liquid are usually sufficient. The sink is cleaned with the help of a dish brush or a kitchen rag. Then rinse with clear water and rub dry with a cloth - this can prevent unsightly limescale stains. If these do develop, the power of vinegar will help eliminate them. To do this, drizzle a cloth with vinegar and leave it on the affected areas for a while. Rub a little if necessary and then rinse well. (Vinegar as a cleaning agent) So that the stainless steel sink shines properly again, you can also use a special stainless steel cleaner from the drugstore. This is applied with a cloth, wiped off with plenty of water and then the sink is rubbed dry. It already shines like new again!
As you can see, cleaning a stainless steel sink is quick and easy!
Clean the ceramic sink
Just like stainless steel sinks, ceramic sinks are best cleaned with warm water and a little washing-up liquid. A film of fat that may be present in the pool can easily be removed. If metal objects, such as cutlery or the pasta sieve, have left unsightly stains, you can simply use scouring milk. Ceramic is a very hard material and can withstand this cleaner without any problems.
Cleaning the Silgranit sink
Sinks made from Silgranit are becoming increasingly popular. This is a composite material made of granite and acrylic. Warm water and a drop of washing-up liquid are sufficient for daily cleaning of the very scratch-resistant sinks. Should discoloration appear over time, this can be removed with a heavy-duty detergent, which has to act for a few hours. Also a mix of baking powder and water is proven to remove stubborn stains.
Don't forget to clean the drain and overflow when cleaning the sink
You should clean your sink at least once a day. Depending on the use, this may also be necessary more often. Weekly - perhaps together with a thorough cleaning of the countertop - it is advisable to invest a little more time and to thoroughly clean the overflow and the area around the tap in addition to the sink. The overflow can be cleaned with a thin bottle brush. If unpleasant smells are already emerging, it has been proven to crumble half a denture cleaner tab and add it to the overflow together with some water. Stubborn dirt around the tap can be easily removed with an old toothbrush and a little washing-up liquid. Tip: if you go to work here regularly, your work will be made much easier.
