I dont know what “configure Jack” means? The computer has 2 gigs of ram, I think this should be plenty enough for a studio computer. Hi, welcome to the fora. I’ve not yet purchased any recording software and I’m looking forward to learning how to use many of the open source programs offered by the ubuntu software center. For simple recording I would recommend Audacityor Ardour but it uses Jack Audio Server so it can be little bit harder to setup. Or, would I need to download and install something? It is only going to be used for amateur music recordings, nothing serious; just me, my drum machine, guitar and a microphone.
